Frequently Asked Questions.

What is the Stay in Love collection?

The Stay in Love collection is a collection of engagement and wedding rings designed and manufactured by Topaz, a leading Guyanese jewellery producer.

Do you sell ready-made wedding and engagement rings?

Yes we do, but the rings we stock may not fit your finger size in which case we can make the ring of your choice specifically for you.

How long does it take to have a ring made?

In most cases your ring can be made in less than two weeks. If you’re looking for a specific size and quality of diamond that we do not have in stock it may take longer.

Do wedding rings have to be engraved with the initials of the bride and groom?

They don’t have to but we offer this service to all our customers.  Please bear in mind that not all designs can accommodate engraving.

Can customers bring their own gold to have their rings made?

Generally, no. There are two conditions under which we may consider such a request:

  1. If you have an item of jewellery (not raw gold) which has some sentimental value and which you’d like melted and incorporated into your wedding or engagement rings; and
  2. If the ring you select does not require any special processing such as casting.

What after-sale service do you provide?

  1. For wedding and engagement rings we offer free cleaning once a year. We’ll also check to ensure that none of your diamonds have come loose.
  2. If your finger size changes we can resize your rings to fit – at a small cost.
  3. We can also repair your rings in the event of accidental damage – at a small cost.

What is an engagement ring?

This is a ring presented by a man to a woman signifying his love for her and his desire to become her husband in the not too distant future.

Do all engagement rings have diamonds?

Most engagement rings have one or more diamonds, but other gemstones are sometimes used instead.

Are diamonds very expensive?

Not necessarily. But they can be. The price of a diamond depends on its size and quality and can vary from under G$10,000 to many millions of dollars.

What is a carat?

A carat is a unit traditionally used to measure the weight of a diamond. It is equivalent to one fifth of a gramme.

Are all diamonds round?

No. Diamonds are cut in a variety of shapes. However, the round brilliant-cut diamond displays the best combination of light reflection and refraction.

Which finger is the engagement ring worn on?

Engagement rings are generally worn on the “ring finger” (next to pinky) of the left hand. The wedding ring is later placed on the same finger but goes on first, with the engagement ring placed after.

How do I care for my diamond?

Diamonds attract grease, which attracts dust. To keep your diamond sparkling, rinse with warm soapy water every few weeks. Also visually inspect your ring from time to time to ensure that the diamond is secure in its setting.

How much do I need to spend on an engagement ring?

Buy what you can afford. You can always upgrade later.

What’s the difference between white gold and regular gold?

All gold is mixed with some kind of alloy prior to manufacturing. The alloy used in white gold is composed of metals which give the gold an overall white appearance. Additionally, white gold jewellery is plated with Rhodium after the manufacturing process to enhance its whiteness.

Does my wedding ring have to match with that of my fiancé/fiancée?

The two do not need to match. Some couples like matching rings while some couples don’t consider it a big deal.
